When Do State Test Scores Come Out?
2027 Results Dates by State

Four states have posted spring 2027 results dates so far. STAAR grades 3-8 scores reach the Texas Family Portal on June 15, 2027. Ohio families must have their results by June 30, 2027, New Jersey districts get NJSLA-A reports by June 30, 2027, and Indiana posts ILEARN results within weeks of testing. Florida shows FAST scores within a day of testing. For every other state, the table shows when 2026 results reached families, clearly marked as last year's timing, plus where you log in and the state's own guide to reading the report.

Dates can change. If a date here differs from the state's own document, the state wins, and we update this page when states post their 2027 reporting calendars. Testing dates are on our 2027 state test calendar.

How to read a score report

Every state's report looks different, but almost all of them are built from the same few pieces. Start with the performance level, then look at the scale score, then the smaller sections (reporting categories or claims) that show where your child was strong or needs help.

Scale score

The number your child earned, on that test's own scale. Scales usually differ from subject to subject, so don't compare a math score with a reading score, and don't read the number as a percent correct.

Performance level

The band the scale score falls into, set by the state's cut scores. Most reports use a few named levels, like Did Not Meet, Approaches, Meets and Masters Grade Level in Texas, or Beginning to Distinguished Learner in Georgia. This is the line that says whether your child met the grade-level bar.

Percentile rank

Not every report has one. Where it appears, as on Florida's FAST reports for grades 3-10, it compares your child with other students: a percentile of 70 means your child scored higher than 70 percent of the comparison group. It is not a percent correct.

Score range

Many reports show a band around the score (Georgia calls it the scale score range, Connecticut an error band). It is the range your child would likely score in if they took the test several times, so small differences inside that band are not real changes.

One test is one day. Read the report next to report-card grades and what the teacher sees in class, and ask the teacher which skills to work on. For state-specific detail, see STAAR scores explained (points needed to pass each test) and NJSLA scores explained (New Jersey's new score scale and cut scores).

Questions parents ask

When do state test scores come out in 2027?

It depends on the state, and most have not posted 2027 dates yet. Texas, Indiana, New Jersey and Ohio have: STAAR grades 3-8 results reach the Texas Family Portal June 15, 2027, New Jersey districts get NJSLA-A reports by June 30, 2027, and Ohio families must have their results by June 30, 2027. In 2026, families in most other states got results between April and November.

When do STAAR scores come out in 2027?

TEA's 2026-27 reporting calendar puts STAAR grades 3-8 results in the Family Portal at TexasAssessment.gov on June 15, 2027, with final reports on July 22, 2027. Spring end-of-course results reach the Family Portal June 8, 2027. You need the access code from your child's school, or you can use your district's parent portal.

When do FAST scores come out?

Florida posts FAST scores in the Family Portal as children finish testing. Scores start appearing three days after each window (PM1, PM2, PM3) opens, then within 24 hours of a student finishing a test. Writing scores come after the writing window closes. You need the 6-digit access code from your school.

When do NYS test scores come out?

New York has not posted a 2027 date. In 2026, NYSED released preliminary grades 3-8 results to schools and districts on August 5, 2026, and parents get the score report from the school or district. Regents exams are scored by your own school, so those scores come from the school after each exam.

When do NJSLA scores come out in 2027?

NJDOE says spring 2027 NJSLA-A reports reach districts by June 30, 2027, much earlier than in 2026. New Jersey rules then give districts 30 days to get results to families. The paper report has an access code for the NJDOE Family Portal.

Why doesn't my state have a 2027 date?

Only Texas, Indiana, New Jersey and Ohio had posted spring 2027 results dates when we checked in October 2026, and Florida, North Carolina, Oregon and the NY Regents follow standing rules. For the other states we show when 2026 results reached families, marked as last year's timing, or "Not published" when the state has said nothing. We update the page when states post their dates.

Where do I find my child's access code for the family portal?

Usually on the paper score report or from the school. Texas, Florida, Indiana, New Jersey and Tennessee portals all use a code the school gives you, Oklahoma uses your child's testing number (STN) and birth date, and Arizona schools hand out a claim code. If you never got one, ask the school office or your district's testing coordinator.

What is the difference between a scale score and a performance level?

The scale score is the number your child earned on that test's own scale. The performance level is the band that number falls into, set by the state's cut scores, such as Georgia's Beginning, Developing, Proficient and Distinguished Learner. The level tells you whether your child met the grade-level bar; the scale score tells you how far above or below it they landed.
