The four performance levels
Masters Grade Level
Expected to succeed in the next grade with little or no academic intervention.
Meets Grade Level
High likelihood of success in the next grade; may need short-term, targeted intervention.
Approaches Grade Level
Likely to succeed in the next grade with targeted academic intervention. This is the passing threshold.
Did Not Meet Grade Level
Unlikely to succeed in the next grade without significant, ongoing academic intervention.

How many points each test is worth
Your child's raw score is the points earned out of these totals. Questions worth 2 points and the written answers move the score most.

Questions parents ask
When did 2026 STAAR results come out?
TEA released results for STAAR grades 3-8 to the public on Tuesday, June 16, 2026. A similar mid-June release is expected for Spring 2027, the last STAAR for grades 3-8.
How do I see my child's STAAR scores?
At TexasAssessment.gov, with your child's unique access code (on the first page of the score report, or ask the school), or through your district's family portal.
What is a passing score on STAAR?
"Approaches Grade Level" or higher is passing. "Meets Grade Level" is the on-grade-level target, and "Masters Grade Level" is advanced.
Why does the scale score not match the number of points?
Your child earns raw points on the test; TEA converts them to a scale score so that years can be compared, and the points needed for each level can shift slightly from year to year. TEA publishes the raw-score conversion tables each year.
How can my child move up a level?
