Grade 4 math on the NC EOG is where multi-digit operations and fractions take center stage: Number & Operations in Base Ten (~25-29%) and Number & Operations—Fractions (~30-34%) together make up close to two-thirds of the test. The year's biggest skills are multi-digit multiplication and long division, and a deeper treatment of fractions — equivalence, comparison, and adding/subtracting with like denominators.
North Carolina reports on a 1-to-5 scale; "on grade level" is Grade Level Proficient (GLP), Level 3 or above. In 2024-25, 58.7% of NC fourth graders were grade-level proficient in math.
The EOG math test has a calculator-inactive and a calculator-active section (four-function at grade 4), given online via NCTest.
