Finding your child's scores

Austin ISD Parent Portal, then the Frontline SIS Parent Self Service tile (same login), then the Texas Assessment Parent Portal link by your child's name. Results come with a subject-by-subject breakdown. Four levels: Masters, Meets, Approaches and Did Not Meet; Approaches is passing, Meets is on grade level.

STAAR in Spanish, grades 3-5

Austin ISD offers STAAR in Spanish for grades 3-5. If your child takes the Spanish version, practice the same skills; the questions test the same TEKS standards.

STAAR writing, in Austin and statewide

There is no separate writing test anymore. Writing is inside the Reading Language Arts test in every grade 3-8: a 10-point essay and 2-point short answers, about a quarter of the points. Our reading tests include both.

Grade 3: the first STAAR

Third grade brings the first STAAR, in math and reading, taken online. Many third graders lose points to the screen, not the content: drag and drop, hot spots, typed answers. One full practice test shows where your child stands before April.
