How many questions are on a class 7 maths olympiad paper?
Our class 7 papers carry 50 questions for 60 marks in 60 minutes: 15 Logical Reasoning, 20 Mathematical Reasoning, 10 Everyday Mathematics, 5 Achievers Section. The first three sections are worth 1 mark each and the five Achievers questions are worth 3.
Why is the Achievers Section worth more?
Because it is where the rank is decided. Five questions at 3 marks is 15 of the 60 marks on the paper, so a child who skips them has capped their score at 75% before starting.
Is there a negative mark for a wrong answer?
Not in our papers. A blank and a wrong answer score the same, so there is never a reason to leave a question unanswered. Check the current official rules at Science Olympiad Foundation for the real exam.
How long should a class 7 child spend on each question?
60 minutes for 50 questions is a little under 72 seconds each on average, but that average is misleading. The first three sections should go faster than that, precisely so the five Achievers questions can go slower.
What is the difference between Mathematical Reasoning and Everyday Mathematics?
Mathematical Reasoning asks whether a child can do the maths. Everyday Mathematics asks whether they can find the maths inside a paragraph about money, time or measurement. Plenty of children can do one and not the other, which is why they are scored apart.
How many practice papers do you have for class 7?
5 complete papers, which is 250 questions for this class alone, out of 1,350 across classes 3 to 8. Every one was written by hand rather than generated, and every answer key is recomputed by a second independent route before it ships.
Do the questions repeat between papers?
No. Every new question is checked against all 1,350 already in the bank by two independent models before it is accepted, and anything they both call the same problem is thrown out rather than reworded.
Does my child need to know anything beyond the class 7 syllabus?
Rarely in content, often in demand. The topics are ones a class 7 child has met, but a question may combine two of them, or ask for the condition under which something is true instead of asking for a value.
What does a wrong answer tell us?
More than the score does. Every wrong option in our papers is built from a specific mistake, and the paper names it: a unit missed, a factor confused with a multiple, an intermediate step answered instead of the question. That is the part a downloadable past paper cannot give you.
