Practice finding the main idea using details. Grade-3 reading questions lean heavily on using specific details from a passage to determine the main idea. Ask your child 'what is this mostly about, and how do you know?' after reading.
Don't forget the writing prompt. Grade 3 ELA includes an extended writing-response, so your child needs to read passages and write a full response — not just answer multiple choice. Practice short written responses to what they read.
Build vocabulary through context, not flashcards. The test asks children to figure out word meaning from how a word is used in a passage. Reading widely and pausing on unfamiliar words to guess-then-check builds exactly this skill.
